Ep 22: Playalinda Beach Secrets
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Playa Linda is one of those rare Florida beaches that feels like you discovered it by accident and that’s part of the magic. We’re Cora and Max, and we’re sharing exactly what we learned visiting Playa Linda Clothing Optional Beach inside Canaveral National Seashore on Florida’s Space Coast, just east of Titusville near Merritt Island and the Kennedy Space Center area. The signs don’t come right out and say “nudity allowed,” but once you understand how the beach is set up, it’s easy to see why people love it.
We walk through what makes Playa Linda different from busier nude beaches like Haulover: the calmer vibe, the wide open shoreline, and the feeling that most people are there to relax instead of gawk. We also break down the practical stuff you’ll want before you go, including park hours, the entry fee, national park passes, and a key detail first-timers miss: Parking Lot 13 is the spot most people associate with the clothing optional area, and weekend parking can be tight if you don’t plan your timing.
Then we get into our “just the tips” checklist, because this is a national seashore and there are no convenience stores on the way in. Gas up, bring real ice, pack sunscreen, and think hard about wind-proof shade. We also say the quiet part out loud: clothing optional does not mean sexual activity is allowed, since it’s still a public beach and you can get in real trouble for crossing that line. If you want the visuals, we also made a short YouTube video showing the parking lots and signage. Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more travelers can find the info.
Adult Warning And Welcome
SPEAKER_01You want to talk about how it is?
SPEAKER_02Here's the speaker part.
SPEAKER_01It just has two signs, and those signs simply say you may encounter nude beatgoers beyond this point.
SPEAKER_02This podcast is intended for adult audiences over the age of eighteen. The podcast includes adult language, situations, sexually explicit material. Listeners, please be advised.

SPEAKER_01Hey there. Welcome
RV Travel Update And Boondocking
SPEAKER_01back. Today we are talking about Playa Linda clothing optional beach. Shh. It's a little bit of a secretive beach. We're going to tell you more about that in a minute. But currently, let's tell you where we are right now. We are in Georgia. It is our view right now is pecan trees and peach trees, and it is red clay. And we are staying right now what we call a harvest host. And a harvest host is a business that basically lets us park in their uh parking lot overnight and boondock. What is boondocking?
SPEAKER_02Well, boondocking is quite essentially it. I mean, it's it's almost like it's ounce. I mean, we are literally here, we're parked in the parking lot, we are operating off generator power with our RV. And as you can tell behind us, that's our Alice. As you guys all know, Alice, she's right here with us, as well as you can see what we call Rizno, our Jeep that we tow behind it. But uh, back to boondocking. Boondocking is essentially where you just operate off of generator power and off of whatever water you have stored on board. We already have on board about 30 gallons of water, plenty enough for us to do dishes, showers, and all that, and for us to get back on the road tomorrow. So that is boondocking, and uh, we're here in Georgia. Yes, we made it out of Florida, and I tell you what, my god, is it hot? It's been up in the 90s uh for the last couple days.
SPEAKER_01It was 98 today as we travel from the Florida line to the Georgia line.
SPEAKER_02We thought we were gonna cool off as we were going north. No, no, no, it's still hot, hot, hot. Yeah, but I we're excited, we are so excited about this episode because we are going to talk to you guys about Playa Linda Beach, clothing optional. It's down around Titusville on the east coast of uh on Florida, but we'll get to all those details in a second. And uh just to kind of tell you where we're going from here. We are actually moving north, where hopefully it might get a little cooler. I don't know, we'll see. But we're going up there to visit some family for a little while. But we're also gonna take in a couple another um, you know, swinger resorts and clubs like that for you. Our next stop is Pandora's Florida Forest, where we're gonna enjoy Fort July, and then we're gonna do some family things up in the Kentucky area, and then we're making our way north all the way up towards Canada. So, all that's coming to you. So make sure you keep subscribing, keep coming back and watching, and you know, send us those notes as well and questions, concerns. And if you just have a question off the top of your head, send it to us via our Gmail account, which is nextdoorswing at gmail.com. Yeah, so we are gonna get right into the next episode of Playa Linda Beach right after this short little break.
Playa Linda Overview And Why Quiet
SPEAKER_01All right, welcome back. Today we are talking all about Playa Linda Clothing Optional Beach, which is kind of a quiet destination. Playa Linda is a beach on the space coast of Florida, and it is located inside a national park. The national park is called Canaveral National Seashore, and the national park is 58,000 acres and 24 miles of uninhabited coastline in Florida, which is the longest uninhabited stretch of coastline on the east coast of Florida.
SPEAKER_02And I tell you, it is absolutely beautiful out there. And you'll drive for, I mean, hour, well, I'm gonna say hours, but you will drive for a while and won't see anything other than shrubs and trees, and then all of a sudden you'll see some space shuttle launch stuff and uh you know, taxiways and stuff like that. It's kind of crazy, but it's uh quite the scene note there.
The Hush Hush Clothing Optional Setup
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, you want to talk about how it is shh quiet?
SPEAKER_02Okay, here's the secret part. So you've already seen our episode, I'm sure, about Hollover Beach. Hollover Beach is a county, it is it's a county associated nudist uh beach area. Now, I'll tell you up there at Titusville up at Playa Linda, it is not mentioned anywhere that it's actually clearing optional. It's all on the hush-hush, it's all on you know on Facebook and all those other uh social medias out there talking about it. And the reason why they get away from it uh away with it is the fact that it is actually right on the border of two county lines. So as you drive out there, if you can picture this, if you're not uh watching on um on YouTube, if you can picture this, you're driving out towards East Coast Shore and you're going about 15 miles, and all of a sudden you take a left along the seashore line and you go about another six miles along that, and then there's you all these little stops along the way of these parking lots. Now, the parking lots aren't huge, uh, probably 20-30 cars can probably fit in each one of them, but as you go along, the numbers get larger, obviously, from one all the way to 13. Now, the secret part is that you got to go all the way out to 13, is where the clothing optional put piece is. Now, that does not mean you know it's not lifestyle, it's not sexually oriented, none of that kind of stuff. It is just clothing optional. You can go out there, get naked, and have a blast. And I'll tell you what, you are going to want to visit and do this one because it is absolutely gorgeous, beautiful. It is a completely different scene, other than uh you know, a completely different scene, different from Hollover Beach down near Miami. Uh, completely different scene. And we fell in love with the little place, and I'm damn sure we'll go back.
SPEAKER_01Oh, definitely be going back. So when you go out there, one of the big differences, like you were mentioning, Hollover Beach, it actually says nudity allowed beyond this point. Right. Playa Linda, it just has two signs, and those signs simply say you may encounter uh uh what is it, you may encounter nude uh beachgoers beyond this point, is the way they put it. Um, so it doesn't actually come out and say it is allowed, and even all I I searched all over the actual um state or the national park website, and it doesn't say anywhere on there about this. No. Um now I had to go to other websites and look it up and you know talk to people who actually go there and things like that. So that's why it's kind of on the hush hush.
SPEAKER_02Now I will tell you our experience as we got there in Resume Park and we went over the dunes, everybody was naked. And guess what? There were no kids. Not saying that there wouldn't be kids allowed there or you know, at any other given day. Right. But I'll tell you the day that we went there, there was the was beautiful. It was obviously green.
SPEAKER_01I think I actually mentioned it to you. One of the best things about this beach was there was no children. And I like children, but I just don't like children around while I'm naked beaching.
SPEAKER_02Well, or while we're enjoying ourselves on naked beach, yeah. Exactly.
Who Goes And What It’s Like
SPEAKER_01All right, who is this beach for?
SPEAKER_02Well, as I'm gonna say about everything. No, it's it's it it's really it for anybody that really wants to enjoy a peaceful day at the beach and want to be naked, and that's exactly what we did. That's exactly how we felt when we got there. We were just looking to relax and enjoy ourselves, and boy, we did. It was a great thing.
SPEAKER_01It was just great. We had, you know, some drinks, we had some music, we just sat and relaxed. We got up, jumped in the water, played in the waves. It was fantastic.
SPEAKER_02Now, I will say this, and I'm gonna bring it up now. Uh in the tips, we will talk about it. But there were some things that we learned that we would do better, different, you know, better or different next time we go out there. So make sure you stay tuned for just the tips near the end because we're gonna go over some of those things. Because it is important that because again, you're out there, you're not you're not driving past convenience stores or grocery stores or anything like that on your way out there, okay? So just keep that in mind as we get to just the chip tips.
SPEAKER_01So, another part of the who that was there as far as the people that we saw there, it was all ages. It was um couples and single men and single women.
SPEAKER_02There were small groups of people, and there were a couple, I mean, not that we talked to them or we whatever, uh, to identify if they were or not, but it sure looked like there were a couple of gay couples, uh both lesbians and gay guys, and they were it was cool. And there was a nice couple next to us that we did talk to and chat with, and they actually hit us up on SBC. So if you're out there, hey, uh, we saw you out there. Yeah, we got you. But it was uh it was kind of fun. Um talking with them and having a good time.
SPEAKER_01All ages, all ages, all styles of people, um, except children, except zero children.
SPEAKER_02That was great. Yeah, it was fun. All right, so that was the hoop.
Best Times To Go And Closures
SPEAKER_02So when? When would you or when could you go out there to fly Linda?
SPEAKER_01So because this is a beach in Florida, it's year-round. Of course. It's year-round. Um now there are open and close hours. So the national park actually opens at 6 a.m., which is great if you're an early riser and want to catch that sunrise. It also closes at 8 o'clock. They want people off the beach by 7:30. And if you're not off, the uh park staff are having you ushering you off of the beach. Um, but I do want to mention check the hours before you go, because sometimes there are shuttle launches out there. It's very close to Kennedy Space Center, and there are shuttle launches, and sometimes you're allowed.
SPEAKER_02I don't think we shoot the launches.
SPEAKER_01You're right, rocket launches, rocket launches, sorry. Um, so the there may be they may be closed during some of the launches, but sometimes they're open during the launches, depends on how close the rockets are to the beach area.
SPEAKER_02And I'll say this one of the things that blew me away was I didn't realize there were so many rocket launch pads out there. And there, there's, I think there was, well, there might not be 39, but I saw one that was numbered 39. So they're all over the place. So you do have to kind of watch and see where the launches are taking place and whether or not the area you're going to is actually going to be closed or not. So yeah, check the website. Great, great call.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Also, another hot tip is it is definitely less crowded on weekdays. Obviously, with most beaches, um, and this just less crowded on weekdays. We were there on a Wednesday we drove out in the evening, and then Thursday we went back and uh in the afternoon and had no problem finding parking. However, parking does seem to be an issue on the weekends.
SPEAKER_02Yep. So I think we got the wind covered.
SPEAKER_01Yes, wind is covered. All right, where?
Where It Is And What You’ll See
SPEAKER_01Where is this at?
SPEAKER_02All right, you can't get any further on the east coast. It's on the east coast of uh of Florida, and it's just due east of Titusville, probably about 15 miles uh east of Titusville. And it is, as uh Miss Corb mentioned, it is in this the what is it the Space Coast, Space Coast or the Canaveral Port Canaveral area, port canaveral area, but the canaveral seashore.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, canaveral national area.
SPEAKER_02And I'll tell you, it is absolutely beautiful. Uh driving out there was so much fun. Uh, we got to see tortoises, we got to see uh wild pigs, lots of birds, we got to see the launch facilities. It was really kind of cool. So it is out there on Merritt Island near Cocoa Beach, just north of Cocoa Beach. So even if you're just going there for one day, there's plenty to do in the area that uh we went boating one day, we had uh a lot of fun out boating with manatees, we saw lots of dolphins and dolphins. Uh it was it was great. We had a great uh couple three days down there. We spent three days down there, and it was a lot of fun. We had a great time.
SPEAKER_01So if you're not familiar with Florida at all, if you know where Orlando is, it's an hour east of Orlando, like due east of Orlando.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Yep. Yep. So I think we got the wear covered.
Entry Fees Passes And Veteran Perks
SPEAKER_02So how would you find out about this wonderful little place?
SPEAKER_01So you would to get there, you would go to Titusville and you would drive 15 miles from Titusville into the park entrance. Once you get into the park, there is um a pay station, um a visitor station, and a pay station. You have to actually pay to go to this park. Yes. It is on national park land. It's $25 for a car of four people or two or you know, three, but it's up to four people on a car. Now you can get um an annual pass to the national parks, and that's what we have because we go to many national parks, and we hope to go to many more national parks. So we just went ahead and got the park pass for this per annual. Um, but you can also um get a park pass just for that location for $50 for the year. Yeah, and then you you know, if you go more than two times, it pays for it.
SPEAKER_02So I will make a note uh tell all those veterans and all those people that are in the military, you can actually get a pass for free. Uh you can just stop at any one of the visitor centers and then just apply for it, get it. It's really simple, really quick. So that's what we've actually done is we actually got a because I'm a disabled veteran, we've gotten the veterans car to where we it's good for like five years, and we get to get go to any national park we want to for free. So that's a great little uh thing there as well.
Parking Lot Strategy And Apollo Clarifier
SPEAKER_01It is. So talk about the parking lots.
SPEAKER_02Okay, the parking lots. Okay, so as I mentioned, parking lots one through 13. Now, if you're going on a weekend, I would probably say you're probably not gonna get any parking in parking lot 13 unless you're there right at the crack of dawn uh for the sunrise. Now, what we've heard from other people, we didn't have the experience it, didn't do it, but what we've heard from other people too, what they do is they'll actually drive their significant other down to parking lot 13, drop them off with all their gear, whatever, get them situated out on the beach a little bit, maybe, but then actually drive back to where they can actually find a parking space and then walk down. It is not that far, I mean, to walk really, if you think about it, because there's not a whole lot of space in between the parking lots. It's just of course they're trying to not you know destroy the dunes and everything like that. So they have to space out the parking lots a little bit. But uh, you can, you know, uh we went out there during the week, had no problem at all getting parking at parking lot 13, which was crazy because the couple days before we actually did a drive out there just to do a recon and check it all out. And actually, the road into parking lot 13 was closed at parking lot 10. So we were like, uh-oh, what are we gonna do? Lo and behold, we came back the next time, and wouldn't you know it? The actual road was open, and we're like, yay, we're gonna win. And we went all the way to parking lot 13, got a space, and enjoyed our day.
SPEAKER_01Right. And the road actually has a little um cul-de-sac at the end of parking lot 13. You can't go any further. Just not go all the way to dead ends at 13, so it'll turn you around.
SPEAKER_02Which is another great point that you brought up earlier as we were preparing for this episode, is that you know there is another beach just north of there, up near North uh Samira Beach, New Smyrna, New Smyrna Beach, and you can get in from that side. So a lot of people were actually contacting us because they were getting confused that we went to that beach, so it is not that it's two separate beaches. There's a northern entrance up through uh North Smyrna, and uh they talk about going to parking lot five or whatever there, two separate beaches. So this is Ply Linda Beach, just east of Titusville. So don't get don't get them confused.
SPEAKER_01Yep, yeah, all right.
Why We Prefer It To Haulover
SPEAKER_01Why why go to Ply Linda Beach?
SPEAKER_02Why not?
SPEAKER_01I agree. Why not? Why not?
SPEAKER_02There were no kids, we were naked and having a blast.
SPEAKER_01No, I mean the reason that I loved it was because of the relaxation, it was just a chill day.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and you know, quite honestly, maybe a better way to put this is why go to Ply Linda Beach over Oliver Beach? Oh uh Holover Beach gets a little crowded, even on the weekdays when we've gone there, it gets a little crowded, and there's a lot of look-y-loose because again, it's a per it's announced clothing official place. So, of course, everybody wants to go see Playa Linda because it's not so announced, not and it's kind of more hush-hush. You get the people that really want to be there and really are there for the the actual being nude and having a good time and just enjoying themselves. So it was not as crowded, it was very polite people. Nobody had their clothes on. I don't think I seen a person once we got over the dune with their clothes on. So again, no lucky loss and no, you know, it was very peaceful and it was gorgeous, gorgeous, beautiful beach. I've the beaches were just so beautiful there. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_01There was no seaweed, this the sand was great, water was great, the water was perfect. We got in the water and hung out.
SPEAKER_02And another good point, which is kind of abnormal for the east coast. Now, on the west coast, when we go out to the beaches out there, and you guys have seen our videos and pictures of us out there boating. It seems like some places you can actually walk for miles before you even get up to your waist in water. Well, usually on the east coast, as soon as you take a few steps out, you're getting deep, deep, deep, deeper. Uh, there at Plylinda Beach, we walked up for quite a ways, and it took us a while to get up to our waist, right? So, I mean, um, that was another great thing is that you could actually wade in the water and not get beaten to death by waves and or you know the rolling of the waves as it comes in.
SPEAKER_01Another thing I just thought about was on the west coast of Florida in the Gulf, the water was much warmer. So, whenever we got in the water on the west coast, it's almost like getting in bath water on the east coast on the Atlantic, it was cool. Yeah, it took me a minute to get in, and it was it was 90 degrees.
SPEAKER_02Fellas, you might shrink a little bit. I'll just tell you that. It is cold, the water is a little shrinking. It was refreshing, even if it's 95 degrees outside, it was hot. You shrink a little bit, okay? Just a little bit.
SPEAKER_01It happens. Man, it happens, it happens.
SPEAKER_02It's all
Just The Tips And Nude Beach Etiquette
SPEAKER_02right.
SPEAKER_01All right, just the tips.
SPEAKER_02Just the tips. My favorite part. All right, my number one just tips. My no, and I've said it well, I've kind of alluded to it several times. There is no convenience stores, there are no, you know, no stores on the way out there. Once you get out of Titusville, so make sure you gas up because it is 15 miles out there, 15 miles back. Make sure you have plenty of ice in your cooler. Okay, I failed. Epic fail. Got all the way out there. We had uh ice packs to keep our drinks cold. We didn't have any physical ice to put in our drinks, and I was like, you idiot. Anyway, so make sure you take plenty of ice. Uh, what are a couple of the other things? Oh my gosh, sun tan lotion. Make sure you're sunscreen. Yes, make sure you have sunscreen because you know, hey, there's some areas you don't want to burn.
SPEAKER_01Well, and then with that, uh, we have um beach chairs that have sun protectors over the top. So make sure you bring something like that or an umbrella. However, many people were having umbrellas blow away and you know go down the beach. So we saw that, and a lot of other people have the kind of um sun shades you stick into the ground and then it's like just a flowing gallic tent thing. So make sure you have some sun coverage.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and as the day got on there a little bit, the winds did pick up. So, yeah, if you're taking a tent thing out there, you better make sure you secure it because there were yes, I don't want to say people get impaled, but I guess I could have because there's some of those umbrellas are flying, and uh they were you know, the wind was picking up as the day went on.
SPEAKER_01So definitely and and hat head protection, hats, you know, of course, obviously, and sunglasses, things like that.
SPEAKER_02What else for uh so another tip?
SPEAKER_01It is a clothing optional beach. Clothing optional does not mean sexual activity, it is still a public location. Yep, you still need to mind your manners and no public activity of sexual things on the beach. It's still public, you guys.
SPEAKER_02Whether your clothes are on or clothes are off. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01So no um hanky panky on the beach is allowed.
SPEAKER_02Which is funny because down at Hollover Beach, uh, there was a lot of police presence down there, and you would see signs and or even people tell you that about you know the sexual activity piece. Up there I didn't see or hear any of that. Well, maybe because it was more of a hush costume. It was quieter.
SPEAKER_01Well, it was quieter. Now I have read online and blogs and things like that when I was researching that the the National Park Service employees will patrol that on four-wheelers. Um, and they will go up and down, but it's I don't think we've seen anyone we didn't see any, but we were there on a Thursday afternoon. It was relatively quiet. So maybe on the weekends you might see that more. But uh, do know that no sexual activity is allowed to go on there. You are still in public, you will get arrested, people will call it in. So keep keep that for behind closed doors.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. 100% good point. Yes, very good. Do we anything else for his tips?
SPEAKER_01Um, well, just the parking, which I think you already mentioned about like dropping off your significant other and then going back and finding parking. So so I did want to make a note that you mentioned earlier about the other beach. The other beach is actually called Apollo Beach, and that's on the north side of Canaveral National Seashore. There are two entrances. The north entrance is the New Smyrna Beach entrance, and then the south entrance that we used was called the Titusville Playa Linda Beach entrance. Now, whenever you go in to the um national park, it's national park, just just two entrances of the national park. You go in on the north side, if you're going to Apollo Beach, you go straight in and then you take a right when you hit the beach and you go down to lot five. Now that's where that road ends, and there is a little cul-de-sac at the end. The two roads do not meet. Um, the same information applies to Apollo Beach. It's the uh entry.
SPEAKER_02Now let's let's make sure we caveat and say we have not visited Apollo Beach.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02This is just word of mouth and from what people have told us.
SPEAKER_01There's also the website as well. So I got the information from the website. Um, the cost is the same, the hours are the same to get into that side. But do know that they there's not a road that connects it, right? And there's a 10 mile stretch of beach from one end to the other, which is um, you know, interesting because a lot of people will, you know, I mean, it's interesting to know that there are two places to go. And some people have told me that the Apollo Beach location is quieter than the Playa Linda location, which surprises me because Playa Linda was pretty quiet. Again, we were there on a Thursday.
SPEAKER_02Right. And we again we have not visited the other one, so we wouldn't know.
SPEAKER_01Exactly, exactly.
Video Plug Closing And Ways To Reach Us
SPEAKER_01All right, so if you are listening to us on audio, either Spotify or Apple Podcasts, we did do a video of this um Playa Linda Clothing Optional Beach. So jump over to YouTube when you get a minute and check out the video. Short little video. We show the parking lots and we show the signage, so you can check that out. Um, so you know, take a look at that if you're listening on audio.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and you might even see some beautiful waves as we were sitting on the beach, too. Might want to catch on that one. Yes. Yep. All right. Anything else we need to go on?
SPEAKER_01I think that is it for Plylinda Beach.
SPEAKER_02Playlinda Beach. And I tell you, it it was uh very enjoyable. I liked it. I didn't think I was gonna like it any more than Hollover. But I'll I will say there is it's two distinct, different uh atmospheres, environments, and I tell you, I love Play Linda Beach. I think we'll be going back there before we go back to Hollover.
SPEAKER_01I think so too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01I think so too. Of course, I uh we love Hollover as well because we're when we're down there and it kind of wraps into our party activities, but Playa Linda, I think, was exactly what we said earlier. We spent three days over on the Space Coast and it was just a relaxing time. And we needed that as a reset after eight weeks, eight straight weekends of partying. And so uh it was nice to relax.
SPEAKER_02And now we're on the road in Georgia.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, can't wait. Can't wait to bring this shit show next to you. Yeah.
