5: Sand, Sun, And Zero Tan Lines... Guide to Haulover Beach, Florida
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Sun on your skin, salt in the air, and a clear line between freedom and respect—Haulover Beach delivers a kind of reset most trips can’t touch. We’re pulling back the curtain on how to do a clothing-optional day the right way: where to park, how to navigate the tunnel, what the facilities offer, and why the etiquette matters. More importantly, we spell out the difference between simple nudity and sexual behavior so you can relax without risking a bad day with security. If you’ve ever wondered how to balance openness with boundaries, this is your blueprint.
We talk through timing your visit for the best weather, dealing with wind, and planning to stay longer than you think because the vibe is that good. You’ll get our real-world checklist—high-SPF sunscreen for rarely exposed skin, snacks and water, a low-volume speaker, and maybe a chair for gusty afternoons. We also clear up myths about “sides” of the beach and share smart photo etiquette that keeps everyone comfortable. Think first-timer confidence meets seasoned insight, grounded in consent and community.
Then we zoom out and build the perfect Miami weekend. Haulover by day, energy by night: Trapeze in Fort Lauderdale for a top-tier club vibe, Vixens for upscale burlesque-meets-cabaret, plus concerts, Hard Rock celebrations, EDM festivals, and cruise tie-ins like Bliss. We wrap with our mailbag on favorite clubs and the role of music and vibe in creating unforgettable nights. If you’re ready for a trip that feels liberating without crossing lines, hit play and plan your next escape with us.
If this helped you plan your beach-and-nightlife combo, subscribe, share with a friend, and leave a quick review to tell us your must-pack item for Haulover.

SPEAKER_00Five. Yeah.
RV Life Update And Gasparilla
SPEAKER_01Five. We're on a roll now. That's right. Today we are talking about Hollover Beach and giving you some information, insider tips, and tricks about a little visit to a fun clothing optional beach.
SPEAKER_00Yes, we can't wait to get into this one. But first, uh we are still stationary here in Tampa. As you can see, we're still in our RV. We're full-time RVers, as you know, and we're bringing it this episode to you right from our couch here in our living room.
SPEAKER_01And we've been in around the Florida uh Tampa area for the winter this year.
SPEAKER_00And we just got through Christmas. Merry Christmas to all y'all.
SPEAKER_01Yep, yep. And this episode should be coming out probably towards the end of January, beginning of February. So during that time frame, uh we will be getting ready to do Gasparilla. Gasparilla is a huge party in Tampa every year. This year it is held, it's always held that there's a big parade, and there's multiple parades actually for Gasparilla. Yeah, and it's going to be the end of January. So that is uh what we will be doing the end of January when this episode, around the time this episode comes out.
SPEAKER_00Can't wait. All right, we'll sit back and get ready to listen to our episode on Hollover Beach.
SPEAKER_01That's all right.
SPEAKER_00All right, we're back, and now episode five of Hollover Beach. We can't wait to bring this one to you because we go there quite a bit. Uh really enjoy it. Yeah, and I tell you, we have a blast every time we go down there. Yeah. All right, so first of all, who typically goes to Hollover Beach?
SPEAKER_01So I did a little research and learned that 7,000 people a day visit Hollover Beach.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Hollover Beach is welcoming for all ages. So that's something important to keep in mind. This is not a lifestyle beach.
SPEAKER_00No. No. If you actually get caught there doing sexual activities, you will be arrested and you'll be taken off.
SPEAKER_01So it is not a lifestyle beach. It is a clothing optional, nudist beach. So there's a big difference.
Nude Beach Etiquette And Legal Lines
SPEAKER_00And you might be asking, why are we talking about this on our Nextdoor Swing podcast, a lifestyle-oriented um podcast? Well, you know what? We're also lifestylers who like to get naked. And, you know, most of us out there like do the same kind of things. And typically, when we go to Hollyver Beach, it's usually after a night of partying and going crazy down around Miami and doing lifestyle stuff. And then we just kind of you know take a day off the next day and go enjoy Hollover. So we wanted to bring it to you guys and give you the information about Hollover Beach.
SPEAKER_01And there are a lot of lifestyle couples that go. And many and many will go together. You know, there'll be a group of lifestyle couples that go together. That's that's kind of but again, caveat.
SPEAKER_00If you're doing sexual activities on the beach at Hollyver Beach, you will get arrested. Don't do it. Don't do it. And there will be kids there. Do not be, you know, don't be alarmed. Alarmed that there's kids there.
SPEAKER_01We haven't seen a lot of children there. I mean, maybe one or two. We've gone to some nudist um campgrounds where it's naturalist campground before, and so we've seen that. And so, you know, there's a big difference. Uh there's a big difference between nudity and sexual uh nudity. Swingers. And there's a big difference in that.
Myths About Sides Of The Beach
SPEAKER_00And so um my eyes were open actually, and now I know the delineation, the line very clearly. As we visited a place uh this past summer, as a matter of fact, uh looking to actually stay there in R R V. And they that literally, if they they had what they called an erection police. And if you had an erection, uh they were basically escorting you off the premise of the location. It is not sexually oriented when you're at a typical nudist resort or nudist place. Right. So Pollyver Beach is a typical clothing optional beach. I will also say that you know, there's we've heard it from many uh locals down there, as well as you can see it on different forums on Facebook, stuff like that, that there's a gay side or LGBTQ plus side, and then there's the lifestyle side. No, uh like every time we've gone down there, that is I would say it's not necessarily false, but all you gotta do is just when you get to the beach, uh just find yourself a spot and you will enjoy yourself.
SPEAKER_01Right, yeah. There we've we've read that a lot, been told that a lot by different couples. We haven't found it to be true, but now you could when you go down there.
SPEAKER_00Can't say that this, you know, again, this is just our our opinion. We're not professionals and we're doing this.
Where Haulover Is And First-Timer Guide
SPEAKER_01All right, so a little bit of what. So Hollover Beach is located um in Miami, north side of Miami. And it's actually, if you've ever watched the fun videos of the Hollover Inlet about the boats taking on a lot of water, that's exactly where this is at. It's just north of there. Yep. And um, there is a website, and that website is holloverbeach.org. It's h-a-l-overbeach.org. And on that website, they have a really great first timers guide. In this first timers guide, they talk about um taking pictures that you shouldn't. Um, they talk about what to expect, they talk about um the ages of people there, they talk about this nudist um community um and and etiquette for this.
SPEAKER_00You'll see again, like I've mentioned a couple times, if you're doing sexual acts, they will arrest you. And they'll talk about this on the site over and over and over again.
SPEAKER_01Right, they will talk about it.
SPEAKER_00And it is one of the top 10 beaches uh in the United States.
SPEAKER_01In the United States, yeah. Uh it's been uh voted several times about the top 10 beaches. Um it beautiful white sand there. Um great waves, it is on the Atlantic Ocean, so great waves.
Facilities, Parking, And Access
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't boogie board. Yeah, no, I would not try and boogie board.
SPEAKER_01No, we did see some people in surf on surfboards, I believe. Um, it is a um uh a half a mile stretch of beach, and so you can walk it. You can walk it naked. We did. Um, and it was it's it was freeing while we're while we're there.
SPEAKER_00And if you're wondering, yes, there are lifeguards on duty, they have lifeguard stations that are there as well, so it is safe to be there.
SPEAKER_01And there were some concessions there. They were like food trucks, like a food concession.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah. And it's it might be important to talk about this too at this time, is that you actually park across the street and you walk under a tunnel. So you do have to pay to park. This is a county uh I think it's a county parking lot. Parking lot area. It's all state run, even the beaches. So it it is actually well taken care of and well managed. But then also as you go through the tunnel to go underneath the road to go over to the beach, on the left, you'll actually have restrooms, changing rooms, and all that right on the left-hand side. So that's kind of cool because once you get down there, get you know your feet wet, dirty, all that other stuff, you can change before you get back in your vehicle if you've got a long drive or if you're uh you know going on to your next place or whatever. You can change it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they there are showers there, so you can do a full body rinse off or just rinse your feet off, just like normal beaches.
SPEAKER_00Now, mind you, though, once you get up near the showering stations in the bathroom, you do have to be clothed at that point. Uh it's not until you get there, you'll see the sign very specifically once you get down the path there that okay, now you can actually be nude out on the beach area.
SPEAKER_01That's right, that's right. All right, so um also we um you had mentioned parking. So parking, it is pay to park. There are also hotels right in there, and they are in walking distance. Um, so you could get a hotel there, and is that on Route uh one?
SPEAKER_00That is right off 1A.
SPEAKER_011A, I believe it is. Yeah, the the road that's right on the coast. Yep.
SPEAKER_00You can't get any coastier.
SPEAKER_01Yep, right there. And so there are hotels that are walking distance. We didn't stay in a hotel that walking distance. The last time we were there, we actually had our RV and we stayed at a really nice campground, a Broward County campground called Eastern Ling Park. About 30 minutes from there, about 30 minutes from there, and and then the other times we've stayed in hotels near there, whenever we've been down. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Now that now that I think we've covered the who, what, and where, I think it's most important when do you go there?
Why We Go: Decompress And Reconnect
SPEAKER_01You know what's great about Miami? It's anytime.
SPEAKER_00Anytime, because you're in Florida. You always have great weather.
SPEAKER_01Obviously, it's going to be much hotter in June, July, and August, and September, and then um a little breezier in the winter. Uh, we have typically we've gone in November uh because we'll hit up Hollover before and after the Bliss cruise. And we this year we did the April Bliss cruise. So we hit up Hollover, I think, before and after the April cruise, I believe. Can't remember if we did or not. But anyway, we've been at there all times of the year at Hollover, and it's of course a beach in Florida. So usually if there's not a hurricane, then it is great weather for uh the beach. I will say sometimes if it's windy, if it's super windy, I don't love the beach because the sand, you know, is gets in my face and I feel sandblasted.
SPEAKER_00That actually happened one time when we were there. The wind was up a little bit and it was it was a little hard to enjoy your regular beach.
SPEAKER_01If it's super windy, it's not as great.
Photo Rules And Security
SPEAKER_00I think we covered that part now. The why. Why would you go there? Well, for us, the our biggest reason why we love going there is like I said, we like to decompress after partying night or after, you know, a good play night if you're doing lifestyle activities. We always kind of take it to go down to Hollover in conjunction with other locations. So some other places to you know visit, and we'll talk about these sites or these locations in our upcoming episodes as well. But one of our favorite places down there, and it's really close, is actually Trapeze. Uh, we go to Trapeze quite a bit down there, and uh we we enjoy that. But Hallover is always kind of our chance to kind of decompress, reconnect with each other, enjoy the sun, enjoy the water. Um, and again, you can't take pictures and stuff like down there.
SPEAKER_01Uh so just can't pictures of other people. We have taken pictures of each other, but making sure no one's behind us. So, like I might be sitting at the edge of the ocean, and then he may take pictures of me, you know, with no one behind me. That's acceptable. That's acceptable. No one will say anything about that. But if you're taking pictures of other people, that etiquette is not okay. Okay. And you may be asked to deliver.
SPEAKER_00And we have seen security on four-wheelers going up and down the beach too. So they're there. So just make sure that as well.
Just The Tips: Sunscreen And Supplies
SPEAKER_01So I'm curious to know. We always talk about a just the tips section or just the tip. What are your just the tips about Holloway Beach?
SPEAKER_00I would say that in this segment, I think it's only fitting when we're talking about just the tips that you gotta watch out getting your tips in the sand. No. Uh actually, just the tips in this part. I would actually make sure that you have one lots and lots of sunscreen.
SPEAKER_01Especially on the areas that don't receive sun.
SPEAKER_00Don't receive a whole lot of sun, yeah, sun. Uh a whole lot of sun. We actually enjoy being naked and we enjoy uh going to different places being naked. So usually not a big problem for us, but we have actually seen other people that have gotten really super red in those areas that are very private uh when they they've been to Hollover Beach.
SPEAKER_01As well as not make a good plane ride back home.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely not. And also come prepared. Uh, we always kind of like to make sure that again we go there as a decompression event, so we always kind of take you know a little bit of light music. Uh, I always kind of like bring my speaker along, uh, bring some snacks, bring some drinks, enjoy yourself. Chairs is not necessarily a must, but to get up off the sand and if it is wind blowing a little bit, chairs are kind of nice to have, but you can obviously just take your towel and just lay on your towel as well. But I will say though, guys, just make sure not to go there with huge expectations. Uh, and I say that because a lot of times us guys will like to have the expectation that we're going to, you know, see all these hotties and hook up with all these beautiful people because we're in that lifestyle mode all the time. No, 100% not. Again, this is not the place for a lifestyle event.
Pack Snacks And Stay Longer
SPEAKER_01This is not saying you couldn't find a couple and talk to a couple. That that could happen, but but it's not the primary but not the primary thing.
SPEAKER_00You're going down there to have a good time, enjoy the sand, uh the sights, and obviously each other.
SPEAKER_01Right, right. So, my just the tip would be take snacks. Yeah, a lot of snacks. Because what I have found is that w usually when we're going, we're like, oh, we'll just go to the beach for an hour and then we'll go get some lunch or some dinner after. Well, what ends up happening is we are so relaxed and just enjoying listening to the um ocean. We're enjoying the birds and the breeze and being naked that we usually don't want to leave and we're end up being there for three or four hours. Well, I like to have snacks. So, you know, take a sandwich, take some snacks, take a cooler. Um, that way you don't have to be rushed out of there.
SPEAKER_00As a matter of fact, last time we were there, we were supposed to be driving home. So we were only gonna spend a couple hours there, if that. And uh next thing you know, we're like, hmm, why don't we just stay another night? So we did. We stayed exactly another night and then just left home the next morning. So that was kind of nice too.
Pairing Haulover With Miami Nightlife
SPEAKER_01And then the other thing is usually for us, we're not going to Miami just for Hollover Beach. We're usually wrapping it in with another activity that we're doing there. Um, like you had mentioned. So there is trapezas in the area. There's also a club called Rooftop. We have not been to Rooftop yet. That is on our list.
SPEAKER_00That's on our list.
SPEAKER_01And I believe there's another club in Miami. Uh Miami Velvet Red Velvet or Miami Velvet. Something like that. We haven't been to that one either. And but then there's also a lot of cruises that go in and out of Miami. So all there's bliss that goes in and out of the city.
SPEAKER_00There's a lot of good reasons to actually be in the Miami area.
SPEAKER_01And then other um vanilla events like concerts are really big. Um, they have an EDM festival down in that area that a lot of lifestyle people will go to. So many people will wrap in Hollover Inn with another activity. And that's usually what we do as well.
SPEAKER_00The Hard Rock casinos there.
SPEAKER_01That's right. That's right. Yeah, we did a birthday celebration at the Hard Rock with some lifestyle friends.
SPEAKER_00And if you're unfortunate enough to be a Miami Dolphins fan, I mean the Miami Dolphins are there as well.
SPEAKER_01Well, lots of sports there.
SPEAKER_00Lots of sports there.
SPEAKER_01Um, and then there was also um, let's give a quick shout-out to that really cool club that we went to, the um burlesque strip club called Vixens.
Mailbag: Favorite Clubs Or Resorts
SPEAKER_00Vixens is also a amazing strip club cabaret uh show.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm not a huge strip club fan. It's not my favorite place to go, but this place, Vixens, was a bit different. It was like a burlesque show, met Met Circus Olay, Met Strip Club. Um and it was upscale, classy joint. It was it was fantastic, and it was huge. There were, I think, four stages outside, and then they had a big center stage, and the center stage had a pole like two or three stories high, and it was three or four girls stacked on the pole.
SPEAKER_00So Vixen's is another great place to go when you're down there.
SPEAKER_01Pretty amazing. Yeah, it was a pretty amazing place. So there's a lot of other reasons to go to Hollover or you know, to Miami than just Hollover. So you can wrap those into a long weekend.
SPEAKER_00Yep, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01All right, on the mailbag.
SPEAKER_00The mailbag. The mailbag session is next. So we'll take a quick break. We'll be back to you in short little break. All right, we're back with our mailbag session, and this time it's a generic lifestyle question, and it's really kind of uh throwing out there too, what is your best or your favorite uh type of club or resort to go to when you're talking about lifestyle clubs or events? So I'm gonna start it off by asking Miss Cora because I'm sure we've got a little bit of a difference of opinion on this. Uh, I'm gonna say, Miss Cora, what is your favorite lifestyle club or um resort or club to go to?
SPEAKER_01Like type party? Um you know what? I really enjoyed the international resort that we went to. Uh we went to Desire several years back. Riviera Maya, yeah, Riviera Maya Desire. And I liked it because we didn't know anyone there, and it was a way we could completely check out of reality. It was a vacation for us. Um, and we could reconnect as a couple, but also meet other couples there. We got to dance every night, try new food. It was all inclusive.
SPEAKER_00Try new couples, try new couples.
Teaser For Trapeze And Closing
SPEAKER_01That's right. They had play uh area on on site, and then um a really nice dance club, great pool, um, nude at the pool, that was great. So probably that was probably my favorite so far.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. Well, I will like to say that uh to kind of caveat and go right along with what Ms. Cora said, but the one thing that I always sets me in the mood when we're talking about lifestyle or swinger events, it really is about the music and or the people that are there. Uh if it's the right music, if it's the right type of atmosphere that you're gonna be in, to enjoy yourself, to be even romantic with each other or you know, turned on by each other, then it's gonna set up with a great. So I would say yes, Revere, Maya, Desire, uh, because they do have that music and that kind of the playmakers down there, which are fantastic. Uh, but I would say almost any club or other event we go to, if it's got the right music, the right vibe, uh the vibe. That's probably the best way to put it. The best vibe uh to for to make things happen, that's what it's all about. And honestly, for the most part, if you can tell right away that if uh the place, the location doesn't have that vibe, uh, you can feel it. And that gut, that gut instinct comes in pretty quick. Like, hmm, I'm not going back to that place because you know, hey, uh didn't have a good vibe. Didn't good vibe. Yeah. So I would say the vibe and/or any location has a good vibe or anything like along those lines.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. All right. That was episode five, where we talked all about Hollover Beach. Episode six is coming up, and we are going to talk about a place that's close to Hollover Beach that we usually wrap in with Hollover Beach locations, and that is Trappees. Trapeze Fort Lauderdale. That's right.
SPEAKER_00And I will say that Trappees Fort Lauderdale is our favorite favoritist. Favoritist? Maybe I don't know.
SPEAKER_01We have a lot of favorites.
SPEAKER_00We have a lot of favorites, but I'll tell you Trapez. First club, and it set a very high standard for all the rest of them. That's right. But uh, we will talk about Trapeze and Fort Lauderdale coming up next on our next episode of the Nextdoor Swing Podcast.
SPEAKER_01That's right. See you next time.
SPEAKER_00See ya.
SPEAKER_01Bye.
